Maine deserves a senator focused on our neighbors, our wellbeing, and our future.

I am that person.

Andrea LaFlamme

Democratic Write-In Candidate for U.S. Senate in Maine

Why I am running for Senate

You may remember hearing about the sidewalk chalk protest in front of Susan Collins’ house, that was me. While it made headlines worldwide, it’s not enough to just speak out against what is happening. That is why I am running for her senate seat.

I am a respected educator and statewide union leader, with a career built on promoting health, women’s rights, and social justice. As a public health and policy expert with strong connections to rural Maine, the military, and a genuine love for the environment and the Maine way of life, this state is my home.

It’s about time that we are represented by someone with education and experience that is focused on our health and wellbeing. We need a senator whose primary interest is in the people of Maine and setting our state up for success. Someone who’s willing to make change NOW instead of waiting for Election Day.

That’s exactly who I am and why I am running.

TOGETHER,

WE LEAD

Maine deserves a platform that guarantees our wellbeing today and our prosperity in the future.

About Andrea

I’m a feminist public health professor that has spent her life fighting for the underdog in Maine’s communities. No one recruited me to run for office; I’m running for U.S. Senate because I know what Mainers need and right now, I don’t see those needs being met by our current leadership or candidates.

I’m the daughter of a Marine and was married to an Army medic during his wartime deployment to Afghanistan. I’m a product of Maine’s public schools and stayed here to get my masters’ degree in public health because my goal has always been to serve the community. I’m a teacher, an advocate, and a public health expert looking to make a difference.

I’m the only candidate in this race that’s an elected union leader—I’m a chapter president with MSEA-SEIU Local 1989 where I represent adjunct professors at all of Maine’s Community Colleges. As chapter president, I recently helped our members secure 4% annual raises from management. Before that, I was elected as the youngest president in the history of Mabel Wadsworth Center (a local health center providing abortion care) where I championed their expansion of services to include care for trans folks and people of all genders. Mabel Wadsworth Center is the only private, not-for-profit, free-standing feminist health center in Maine.

I’ve spent decades working in education and municipal health, experience that sets me apart from the other candidates in this race. I’m a proven leader and community advocate that has put in the work, so you can trust that I’m going to keep fighting for you in the U.S. Senate.
